Recently as I searched online for vintage pictures of children's clothing, I came across these photographs of babies wearing what I call Bubbles, a very traditional way to dress little ones. The Bubbles were longer then, almost to the knee, and I am sure they were not very comfortable. Not to mention the fabrics, which undoubtedly needed ironing.
Bubbles of the modern variety are very short, just to the stride, and very comfortable for babies. They're also convenient for moms who change baby's diaper many times a day. And by choosing the right type of fabric, moms don’t have to vigorously iron the item in order to keep it looking beautiful.
Some of my favorite Bubble patterns are those by “Creations by Michie” (3 - 24 months), and of course my own patterns, which go up to 3T. I believe children grow up too fast and have plenty of time to be grown-ups; so while they are young I personally like to dress them like dolls in a very vintage style. It's an acquired taste, I know, but this beautiful style survives the different waves of fashion.
Here are some of my own creations.
