Welcome, 2015!
I see this as a time to set new goals in my life. And I have a long list: become a better person, be more patient and sweet, conserve more, spend less, lose weight and be healthy, help others more, be more grateful, have a better disposition, and so on and so on. My list is very long.
Somehow, I always come short in my "spend less" and "lose weight" endeavors... I can't quite figure out what I'm doing wrong. But this is a new year and a new opportunity to excel in my quest!
It's not only the new year, but every new day that brings us opportunities to better ourselves at something, even if that something is just a hobby. In time a hobby may become a real skill and passion, which in turn can make you feel better about yourself. And a better you can help others feel happy and confident about themselves as well. So, really every day has such potential.
Since retiring from my previous career as a scientist, I have relied on my hobbies to keep myself occupied, happy, and sane. I'm not so sure about "patient and sweet," but that's why those qualities are on my resolutions list! I love to sew, garden and cook (hm, maybe that has something to do with not losing weight), and I have great hopes to continue doing these things all year. I want to make new paths and flower beds in my garden, prepare new and delicious dishes (I guess I should try for healthy too...), and create more outfits for children.
This month I want to visually share with you the very old idea of “mix-and-match”. Have you realized that just two pants and three tops in your child’s wardrobe can give him or her a total of 6 different outfits to wear?

When I create mix-and-match outfits, I use same or complementary fabrics, in colors that go well together, and then I incorporate those different fabric colors into the embroidery detail of the tops. It's simple!
Best wishes for your 2015!
